What are the “Vaccine Table” injuries?

The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program was created by Congress in the 1980s. The Department of Health and Human Services maintains the program and has created a Vaccine Injury Table, or list of vaccines and related injuries that HHS considers compensable under the program. These vaccine-related injuries that are covered by the program are commonly known as “table injuries” simply because they are listed on the HHS table.

It’s important to note, however, that even if your vaccine or injury are not on the vaccine table, it may still be possible to recover compensation under the NVICP. Those are called “non table” or “off table” injuries because they are not currently listed on the HHS table of approved vaccine-related injuries. Those “non-table” or “off table” cases are sometimes harder to prove but can be just as legitimate and important as table injury cases.

Some of the most common types of table injuries are: Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (or, SIRVA), Guillain-Barre Syndrome (or, GBS), brachial neuritis, encephalopathy, and intussusception.
